What is L-carnitine?
L-carnitine is a chemical that is made in the human brain, liver, and kidneys. It helps the body turn fat into energy.
L-carnitine is important for heart and brain function, muscle movement, and many other body processes. The body can convert L-carnitine to other chemicals called acetyl-L-carnitine and propionyl-L-carnitine. But it’s not clear whether the benefits of these other carnitines are the same.
L-carnitine is used to increase L-carnitine levels in people whose natural level of L-carnitine is too low. Some people also use L-carnitine for conditions of the heart and blood vessels, serious kidney disease, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.
What is Clenbuterol?
Clenbuterol was first created to treat asthma, helping to open up a person’s airways during an attack. It’s also been given to livestock to increase their lean body mass. Farmers do this to increase the meat on their animals so they can make bigger profits.
Although clenbuterol’s proven for building muscle in animals, it’s not quite as effective in humans when trying to bulk up. Clenbuterol has anabolic or muscle-sparing attributes – but it’s predominantly a fat burner and only effective for weight loss.
Clenbuterol’s effects come thick and fast. Firstly the sympathetic nervous system becomes aroused, stimulating the release of adrenaline. As a result, a person’s metabolism becomes elevated causing a person to burn more calories throughout the day. Some users may experience racing thoughts, impulsive behaviour and insomnia due to the stimulative effects that clen has. This all stems from it speeding up your heart beat.
What Is Yohimbine?
Yohimbine is derived from the bark of several trees (including pausinystalia and corynanthe ). Yohimbine is very effective at burning fat, but the jury is still out when it comes to its safety over the long term.
Yohimbine is similar in nature to caffeine or clenbuterol in the sense that it’s a stimulant, however it also has antioxidant properties and dilates your blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow freely. It also stabilizes blood sugar levels and reduces cortisol, helping you to burn fat in stubborn areas. For men this is usually at the bottom of the abdomen and in women on the thighs and hips. These areas are usually the last places to lose fat, but yohimbine can speed this up.
Yohimbine’s also an aphrodisiac, effective at boosting a users libido and sexual performance.

Clenbuterol and Yohimbine Together = Insane Fat Loss?
Yohimbine is an alpha receptor antagonist. Alpha receptors reduce fat burning, so when you combine a alpha receptor antagonist (yohimbine) with a beta receptor agonist (clenbuterol), you’ve just created a powerful chemical environment for burning fat.
The only downside to using both of these powerful cutting agents together, is there’s a good chance you’ll experience side effects. Like with any drug in bodybuilding, if it works exceptionally well, there’s always a catch. And that’s usually in the form of side effects.
When you take clenbuterol and yohimbine these side effects are common:
- Anxiety
- Restlessness
- Headaches
- Insomnia
- Nervousness
- Sweating
- High blood pressure
Everybody will get the following side effects to different degrees. However, people who have heart conditions or high blood pressure should stay well away from these supplements.
You could take supplements to counteract these side effects, however if you take away the stimulative effect then you also take away the fat-burning effects they’ll have on your metabolism. One supplement I recommend to keep your blood pressure under control however is hawthorn. This won’t calm your nervous system and reduce thermogenesis but it will keep your BP from going too high.
To minimize side effects, you can run short cycles that only last 2 weeks at a time. After this duration the risk of developing more severe side effects increases. Also clenbuterol’s effectiveness reduces after 2 weeks anyway, so there wouldn’t be much sense in running longer cycles as it wouldn’t give you any more fat loss.
